Overseeing hospice (facilities that care for people near the end of life) is one of the services provided as part of the regulatory process of Health Service Regulation. Staff activities include:
- Conducting initial, follow-up and recertification surveys and investigating complaints to monitor providers' compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conducting on-site Medicare certification surveys to qualify providers to participate in the federal Medicare program.
This service protects the safety of people using hospice facilities.
