Minority Health and Health Disparities works with faith-based organizations, local nonprofits, tribes, health departments and other organizations to reduce barriers to health care and other health gaps in their communities. To equip these organizations, staff members provide a range of services including training, leadership and skills development, financial assistance, consultation and technical assistance.
This approach has helped community-based organizations use sound business practices, ensure fiscal accountability, write successful grants, influence local and state policies and legislation, and build coalitions to address health disparities.
The broad scope of this service encompasses:
-Partnership and staff development
-Information and referrals
-Preventive care and intervention
-Operational functions of a non-profit organization
By assisting organizations and agencies that serve African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians and other minority populations in North Carolina, this service indirectly benefits individual members of those minority groups.
