Service Description
|
WISEWOMAN provides medical screenings, referrals, and health education to North Carolina women who are:
-Low-income (250 percent of the federal poverty level or below)
-Uninsured or underinsured
-Between the ages of 40 and 64
The focus is on reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and improving their overall health. The service pays for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes screening/testing, dietary, physical activity, and smoking cessation interventions/classes as well as medical referral and follow-up as appropriate. Services are provided by local health departments and community health centers in 41 sites across the state.
