Goal Provide services and supports to individuals and families experiencing health and safety needs to assist them in living successfully in the community.
Objective Assure that families who are experiencing economic jeopardy receive health and safety services to mitigate health and safety risks.

Service Description

Modifications and Assistive Technology services are provided under the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services program to help individuals overcome barriers to employment. This area includes:

 

-Vehicle and home modifications

-Telecommunications, sensory and other technological aids

 

Services are available through 32 unit offices and two Vocational Rehabilitation facilities throughout the state.Services are planned, provided and coordinated by vocational rehabilitation counselors, related professionals and support staff. Individuals have access to other government entities, private and public organizations for services.

Income Eligibility Method As per 1998 amendments to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, verified SSI and SSDI recipients are presumed eligible for services and are exempt from financial needs test criteria for Vocational Rehabilitation services.
Income Eligibility Type Net income of all applicable family members including earned income; unearned income (pensions, VA, pensions, etc.); compensation payments; income from commodities produced and sold seasonally; investment income; inheritances; child support; life insurance payments and similar. Also available assets to the extent they can be converted to cash or used as collateral to meet the cost of the services.
