Rehabilitation Technology and Assistive Devices are provided under the Independent Living (IL) Rehabilitation Program to help individuals with disabilities live in their homes and get access to services in the community. They include:
· Home modifications (ramps, accessible bathrooms, widening of doors and entrances).
· Wheelchairs.
· Communication devices.
· Vehicle modifications.
The consumer and a counselor plan for these services as part of the individualized plan for independent living. These services are coordinated with other providers and comparable benefits, such as Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. These services benefit individuals with significant disabilities who are working toward independent living goals.
