Overseeing end-stage renal disease (kidney dialysis) facilities is one of the services provided as part of the regulatory process of Health Service Regulation. Staff activities include:

Conducting initial, follow-up and recertification surveys and investigating complaints to monitor providers' compliance with state and federal regulations. Federal law requires a survey every three years.

• Conducting on-site Medicare certification surveys to qualify providers to participate in the federal Medicare program.

This service protects the health and safety of people using end-stage renal disease facilities.
